"Pressure" Matra Vashchuk
Marta Vashchuk23 March 2017 - 16 April 2017
A straight line is a way of visualizing time. Pressure makes it curved. This process leads to creation of a new spatial form: time is turning into space.
This process could be seen as deformation and violence. But it could also be seen from a different perspective. Sometimes a new form is ugly and disharmonious, but sometimes it is beautiful.
When I was creating my works I was observing how solid metal objects were transformed under pressure. The pressure and time of transformation are embodied in the new forms I created.
Deformation is painful. Birth of something new is painful too.
Under this pressure, time of our dying is turning into space of our life.
